BUSY BUSY BUSY!
I know--it's a common excuse "we're busy!"... but with two of our three boys now involved in extra-curricular activities, school clubs and Cub Scouts we truly ARE extremely busy these days!
Cory is still working out of State, but thankfully he is able to come home every weekend. I can't believe it's already nearly the middle of the month and Halloween will be here and gone before we know it. We are hoping to catch up with everyone soon!
As most of you know fall means FOOTBALL. Here are some recent pics of Reece at his games. He is getting so big, he's almost as tall as me now, although it doesn't take much to get that way!

Back at work...
Well, Cory's summer "vacation" is officially over! He's off to build a jail in Dodge City, KS... so for the next 12-18 months or so he'll be traveling back and forth to Dodge City. At least he will be able to come home on the weekends, but we miss him already.
Football has begun, so life for us is CRAZY busy now with Reece practicing 5 nights per week, 2 hours per night and the first game coming up next weekend! Reece has been an offensive and defensive lineman for 2 years now and really enjoys it. I love football too, I just could do without the 100 degree heat because in Liberty they don't call off football practice for something as minor as EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORIES! Oh no... after all, football is an "all weather" sport-YIKES!
I can't believe that it's going to be Gavin's birthday soon, he turns eight years old on August 14th! These boys are almost as tall as me... that's okay though, they ALL know you don't mess with "the Mama"... after six weeks with all of the boys home for the summer "Mama" is cracking down! :)

Vacation '08
In July we took our first "official" family vacation. We took the boys to southern Missouri near Bennett Springs State Park. We stayed at Riverwood Resort in a gorgeous valley overlooking the Niangua River and the beautiful bluffs surrounding it.
Gavin was surprised at the cabin, he said he'd pictured something really old and rusty (his word replacement for rustic). But instead the boys each had a King-size bed and a lovely view! We spent a day at Silver Dollar City and figured out that all of us except Gage aren't into too much death-defying scares and thrills on any big rides! Gage, was the exception as he wanted to go again and again! We wrapped up our vacation near our home by visiting Smithville Lake with a fishing trip and a swim at the beach. It was a nice trip exploring our home state with the boys and I think they have a new view of Missouri now.

The BIG Move of '08
*Our New House*We began looking at housing options about a year ago. The inventory in the Liberty school district area alone was immense. We had a desire to stick with the elementary school that the boys have done so well with, so that narrowed our choices quite a bit. We had a long list of "wants" and quite a few "needs" when it came to the new house. We listed our house at the WORST possible time, last fall. Going into winter the market always tends to slow, but we quickly discovered we'd also hit the worst possible time to sell as the real estate crisis began coming into full swing! Being a horrible time to sell... it was on the reverse side... a GREAT time to buy as the prices of homes began to fall. We took a hit selling our house 9 LONG months after listing it, but we feel lucky to have found a great house for our family!
We moved into the house June 16th and had quite a lot of work ahead fixing lots of minor deferred maintenance and finishing the basement for my business. Thank goodness Cory had most of the summer off so he could keep up with my honey-do lists!
